Make up Artist & Hairstylist

Biography

Having become a licensed cosmetologist before graduating from high school, Kerry Herta discovered early on how rewarding it is to make people beautiful. She has always found it truly priceless to see her clients’ transformations and their rising confidence levels after she has worked her beauty magic.

Since her foray into the industry 18 years ago, Kerry has accumulated more than 100 credits in film, television, and print. She has built a solid reputation throughout the industry with her talent, her professionalism, and her high ethical standards.

Clean, natural beauty is the style in which Kerry excels. With her strong print background, she is a firm believer that every make up design should be approached with precision. Thus, she loves the challenge that HD (high definition) now brings in the realm of TV and film! Yet it is through Character Design that her artistic forte is most memorably expressed and illustrated.

Kerry is a Master at envisioning, creating, developing, and executing original Hair & Make up designs/looks for TV characters. In fact, she is the Artist behind the pop culture images you see appearing on TV and billboards across the country, in award-winning promotional campaigns for F/X’s Emmy nominated shows “Nip/Tuck” and “Rescue Me.Yes. That’s her work! Many people marvel over the signature looks Kerry created for “Nip/Tuck’s” campaign in Season 6, as they were influenced by style icons like Marie Antoinette, Twiggy, and Jean Harlow.

Kerry describes her in-depth character design process during that campaign ... “After the client approached me with the idea, I plunged into researching iconic and signature looks from eras of the past. Then, I translated these looks into a high fashion setting through Hair & Make up to create something new that is modern, stylized, and current. What results are characters that originate from an icon of another era juxtaposed with current Los Angeles beauty that I create for advertising.”

There will be another “Nip/Tuck” campaign coming out later in 2009, with another one under wraps until 2010. Indeed these images are truly cutting edge and have shock value. Kerry’s Character Design for Season 6 recently won the highly esteemed “Gold Pro-Max Award.”

Emmy-nominated Makeup Dept. Head Kerry Herta is the creative force behind some of the industry’s most memorable looks.

For 20 years, Kerry has perfected her award-winning makeup technique and adapted it to the most current styles and production technology. She’s regarded for her mastery of HD makeup.

For more than a decade, she has been the FX Network’s go-todepartmenthead for its groundbreaking promo campaigns -- featuring Kerry's haunting and beautiful designs for American Horror Story's “white nun” and Nip/Tuck's modern day Harlow, Twiggy and Marie Antoinette -- which have set a new standard for how networks create buzz.

Over the last two years, three of the world’s most recognizable brands — GEICO, Nike and Wendy’s trusted Kerry with their multimillion dollar ad campaigns and high-profile spokespersons.

In 2010, Kerry took a break from her mix of film, television and editorial work to oversee All My Children’s transition to the HD format. By applying her one-of-a-kind technique, she revamped the legendary looks of a well-known cast that included Susan Lucci and, in the process, set a new standard for makeup on daytime television. Her work earned a 2011 Daytime Emmy nomination.

A longtime mentor of up-and-coming artists, Kerry is also founder of Colour Box Makeup Studios, a training program designed on her belief that working professionals with proven experience are best suited to teach future makeup artists.
